A Legacy Since 1983

FCR History

Fieve Clinical Research has a clinical research legacy that has been part of Manhattan medicine since 1983.

Ronald R. Fieve, MD — the Columbia University psychiatrist internationally recognized for establishing lithium as a treatment for bipolar disorder in the United States — founded Fieve Clinical Services, Inc in 1983. The site quickly became a trusted center for mood-disorder research in New York City.

In 2010, Vanessa Fieve, JD, CCRC, who had managed Fieve Clinical Services for over a decade, founded Fieve Clinical Research, Inc. to continue and expand that work. Under her leadership, FCR broadened its therapeutic reach while maintaining the physician-led, patient-first standards that defined the original practice.

Today FCR’s investigators have collectively conducted well over 125 clinical trials across psychiatry, pain management, neurology, endocrinology, internal medicine, and more. The site works with major pharmaceutical companies and CROs, and remains one of the most efficient and reliable outpatient research centers in the country.
